Zhuhai 2: Return to the Pearl Sea

I live!  Mostly.

We're safely settled in at the Zhuhai Grand Inn (rough translation, no English on the sign here.)  It's been quite a long day... actually it's been quite a long two days thanks to the magic of crossing the International Date Line.  We left our comfy abode in Scarborough on Saturday at 6:30 am EST, and I arrived at our hotel in Zhuhai almost exactly 25 hours later.  Of course, having switch time zones it's 12 hours ahead, meaning that we got into our hotel at 7:30 pm on Sunday.  Having an entire weekend disappear is a strange thing.  Oddly, I barely slept on the plane (I'm normally quite good at that) so the lost time is even more jarring.

It's about 9:30 pm local time now.  We just got back to our room after having dinner with a significant portion of Euphy's extended family.  Always nice to get a warm welcome!  Despite the lack of sleep I'm actually feeling pretty good now.  As soon as we got in to the hotel I grabbed a shower, which did wonders for my outlook on life.  25 hours is a long time to spend in the same clothes.  Also, in that time period I had some coffee, several glasses of Clamato, and a couple of in-flight meals that I'd be embarrassed to serve in a prison.  By the time I got here critics were describing my breath as "exotic" and "avant garde."  A good, hot shower and the use of a toothbrush have made me feel considerably more civilized.

Well, like I said, it's been on heck of a long day (or two) and in the local time zone it's a pretty reasonable time to be going to bed.  On that note, I'm going to cash in my chips, and I'll see what adventures tomorrow brings.
