Blue Steel

Good evening (morning?) everyone!  I hope this post finds you all well.

Today was a real first for me.  Instead of spending the day behind the camera (as I'm accustomed to doing on vacation) I spent it in front of one.  Ever since we started talking about a trip back to China Euphy has been talking about having wedding photos done.  It was an all-day event with multiple venues, costume changes, and props.

We started the day at the Summer Palace where we arrived at 9:00 for make-up.  While Euphy was being transformed from my beautiful wife into a beautiful bride a team went to work changing me from Generic White Guy #4269 in James Bond.  It took a fair amount of special effects trickery, and some black magic.  I'd mentioned costumes, and that really was the right word for the array of clothing available to us.  All of the pants that I wore today featured a plastic ratcheting mechanism in the waist to make them highly adaptable to a wide range of a clients.  That's not a complaint, I genuinely believe that all pants should sport this innovation.

I'm confident that the final photos will look terrific, but the clothing I was wearing really was quite ill-fitting.  Apparently the Chinese studio wasn't quite prepared to outfit someone of my... girth.  (Phrasing?)  The problem was mostly in the pants, which all fit incredibly tightly across my hips.  I determined, after several costume changes, that the issue was actually the total absence of a butt in any of the pants.  I guess I'm just too bootlicious for this line of work.  On several occasions the command "have a seat" nearly ended in disaster.  There was also a period of about an hour that I had to spend with my gut sucked in.  If I failed to maintain that state I'm positive that my waistcoat would have seen it's last day on our fair planet.  The moral of the story is that I'm fat.

As I mentioned before, this event took the entire day.  We were in for make-up at 9:00 a.m. and didn't wrap up until after 6:00 p.m.  I guess Derek Zoolander was right about the difficulties involved in being really, really, ridiculously good looking.

We'll head back in to the studio tomorrow to look through the photos and pick the ones we want to eventually be printed.  After that they'll undergo post-processing and should be ready in about 6 weeks.  I'm quite excited to see the finished product.

Once we'd wrapped our photo shoot we headed out for dinner with one of Euphy's former classmates.  We've only just now got back to the hotel, and after that day I think it's just about time to call it a night.  Aside from choosing photos I have no idea what tomorrow holds in store for us, so you'll just have to tune in again around this time to find out what happens.

I disagree Debbie, that sounds horrendous. Though it could be my aversion to getting my picture taken doing the talking here.

OK I'll rephrase that. It's fun thinking about Colin having to play dress up. lol
